Selecting your wedding vendors can be an intimidating task. After all, more than likely this is your first time going through the process. So, what are some things to focus on when navigating and evaluating through the many different wedding vendors?

  1. Experience: Look for vendors that have a proven track record in the wedding industry. Proficiency is driven through experience servicing a large number of events and an ability to handle unexpected situations.

  2. Reputation/Reviews: Check out their online reviews and presence, talk to friends for referrals, and feel free to ask your vendors for references.

  3. Communication: A key feedback area to focus on from a vendor’s reviews is their responsiveness. Evaluate how professional and timely is their communication to your inquiry and questions. Get a feel for the person or team you will be depending on.

  4. Pricing and contracts: Not to be THE factor but should be one of the factors in your decision making, ensuring the vendor’s pricing falls within your budget. It’s not everyday you get married, so don’t automatically look for the cheapest. Consider your budget but incorporate all the other factors in your decision-making process and the quality of the service you will receive. Make note of each vendor’s deposit requirements, due dates for final payments, and verifying that they will be providing a contract that details the services to be received.

  5. Insurance and licenses: Inquire about whether they have liability insurance and the appropriate licenses and business permits, in particular for your caterer.

  6. Flexibility: Vendors should be willing to tailor their services to your specific needs and requirements. If you a find a vendor too rigid in accommodating your style and preferences, they are likely not the best fit.
