Before scheduling a consultation meeting

Before scheduling your initial consultation, have your event date identified. Not only is the date important from a scheduling / availability aspect, the time of the year your event is taking place can have an impact of whether we can consider any outdoor decorations and even availability of specific types of flowers. Typically the event date goes hand-in-hand with your venue selection.

Determine your estimated decor budget

Usually this will end up being 10% to 15% of an overall wedding budget…a little more for South Asian weddings. Your budget helps us give you ideas and options that are available in your preferred expense range. There are so many centerpiece and decor variations that without having a budget set it is equivalent to driving without directions. And, it’s always easier to scale back if desired. When you are planning your budget, take into account the approximate number of guests you are expecting to invite.

Have a sample of design inspirations

Have a handful of inspiration photos available to share during your appointment. The more you can narrow your style and the elements in different pictures you really like, the better we can assist you in identifying that perfect look AND within budget. Experience has shown that being presented with 5 options is better than 50, because most of us will get overwhelmed. Also, in particular to flowers, make note of your preferred color palette coming into the meeting.

The appointment

The initial consultation is scheduled for typically 30 to 60 minutes either via phone or video. We will go over the pictures you have gathered, your color palette, your event “must haves” and “nice to haves,” and make an evaluation as to whether the budget will support your ideas. Where appropriate, we will suggest modifications and discuss if we notice any limitations based on your venue (e.g. setup time). During this appointment we are also there to answer any questions you may have. We will send you a formal proposal quote after the appointment.
